International Colloquium Communication and Culture in Romance Europe

IInd edition

24th-25th September 2013, Timişoara

CALL FOR PAPERS

The positive feedback to the scientific level that characterized the dialogue between European specialists in Romance languages and cultures at the 1st edition of our colloquium and the remarkable quality of the volume Quaestiones Romanicae, which includes the plenary and a selection of papers presented in each section, are new arguments for continuing our project of establishing a background for those involved in researching the connections between Latin and Romance languages and cultures and the evolution of Philology studies in the field of Contemporary Romanistics.

The year 2013 marks the anniversary of two events relevant for the configuration and the evolution of what was to become Romance Europe: 1700 years from the signing of the Tolerance Edict of Mediolanum; 1900 years from the display of Trajan’s Column, a symbol of the Roman triumph over Dacia. The impact of these historical events over the evolution of languages and cultures is so obvious that we consider that we should include the 2nd edition of our colloquium in the series of scientific and cultural events dedicated to these anniversaries with powerful echoes in Romance Europe. Thus, we suggest as topic for the 2nd edition CICCRE: Antiquity and (Post)modernism: Evolution Paradigms in Romance Europe. It offers philologists, historians, theologists and all those interested directly or indirectly in Latin and Romance studies the chance to deliver papers on various aspects related to this topic. The papers should highlight the multiple facets of Latin inheritance and the complexity of the fervent cultural space that Romania has continuously been in Europe.

For a better orientation, the sections of the previous edition are preserved (http://www.litere.uvt.ro/conferinte/CICCRE/index.html): Latin Language and Literature, History and Theology, Romanian Language and Literature, French Language and Literature, Spanish Language and Literature, Italian Language and Literature.

The papers may be presented in one of the following languages: English, Romanian, French, Italian or Spanish.
